Description of Job:
Oversee all aspects of civil engineering projects as assistant project manager on large construction projects or as the Project Engineer on smaller construction projects.Reviews the requirements, needs and limitations for the project and plan the processes needed to accomplish the project management; prepare or review preliminary plans, estimates, surveys, collected data, existing contracts, and previous engineering documents; oversee or plan the programming or distribution of funds and the manpower and equipment needs for completion of the project; monitor time lines and fund expenditures to control both within the project master schedule; direct the review and resolution of issues, problems, or delays; resolve all changes or deviations by contractors/consultants from plans, schedules, programs, contracts, criteria, specifications, etc. Other duties as assigned and based on position.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights:
Graduation from high school or GED AND six years of engineering assistant or technician experience, including one year experience at the level of Engineering/Physical Sciences Technician III in civil engineering project assignments in the specialty (design or construction) appropriate to the assignment.
SUBSTITUTION: Satisfactory completion of course work from an accredited, non-correspondence college or university in Civil Engineering which included courses in the appropriate specialty may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four years of the required experience.
Stronger candidates will be thosethat demonstrate depth and breadth of skill and ability, through a combination ofprofessional experience and formal training, to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Special Requirements: A criminal background check may be conducted.A current valid driver license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
